06.10 Self-Proclaimed Regions in East Ukraine Mull Postponing Elections Until November 9

MOSCOW, October 6 (RIA Novosti) - Authorities in self-proclaimed Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics in eastern Ukraine are considering the possibility of postponing the upcoming elections until November 9, local officials announced Monday.

Both regions have previously set elections of regional leaders and legislative bodies for November 2, while the rest of Ukraine is holding a snap parliamentary election to the Verkhovna Rada on October 26.

Authorities in Donetsk and Luhansk regions said Monday they would need an extra week to prepare for elections and make repairs to polling stations damaged in armed clashes between independence supporters and Kiev-led forces.
