03.10 Another US Citizen Infected With Ebola in Liberia: Reports

MOSCOW, October 3 (RIA Novosti) – Another US national, a NBC News TV channel reporter in Liberia, covering the outbreak of deadly Ebola virus in the region, was diagnosed with the disease, the news channel has reported.

According to the TV channel, a 33 year-old infected man was hired Tuesday by NBC News as an assistant to a cameraman, covering the outbreak of Ebola in Liberian capital Monrovia and felt the symptoms of the virus on Wednesday.

The channel does not disclose the name of the freelancer at the request of his family.

"We are doing everything we can to get him the best care possible. He will be flown back to the United States for treatment at a medical center that is equipped to handle Ebola patients," NBC News quoted the channel's President Deborah Turness as saying.

Earlier, three US doctors got infected with Ebola in Liberia. Also, a US national Thomas Eric Duncan diagnosed with Ebola in Dallas, Texas, returned to the United Stated from a trip to Liberia.

The worst Ebola outbreak in history is currently taking place in West Africa. The epidemic has claimed the lives of over 3,000 people according to the latest WHO estimates. The outbreak began in southern Guinea in February and has since spread to Liberia, Sierra Leone, Nigeria and Senegal.
