10.03 France’s Bochet Wins Second Gold Medal of Sochi Paralympics

ROSA KHUTOR, Russia, March 10 (R-Sport) – French skier Marie Bochet won her second gold medal of the Sochi Paralympics on Monday with victory in the women’s standing super G.

Bochet, 20, charged down the Rosa Khutor slope in a time of 1 minute 24.20 seconds to add the gold to the one she won in the downhill Saturday.

She was part of a French one-two finish as Solene Jambaque won the silver, two seconds further back.

Russia’s Inga Medvedeva was provisionally credited with the bronze but appears likely to be disqualified after missing a gate. That would promote 18-year-old Stephanie Jallen of the United States into third place.

Earlier in the day, Kelly Gallagher won Britain’s first gold medal at a Winter Paralympics as she came first in the visually impaired super G class.

Paralympic skiing events use the principle of "calculated time," under which an athlete's time is modified by a percentage reflecting the severity of their disability.
