09.02 Slider Demchenko Gives Russia 4th Sochi Olympic Medal
KRASNAYA POLYANA, February 9 (RIA Novosti) – Slider Albert Demchenko won the silver in men’s single luge Sunday earning Russia’s fourth medal at the Sochi Olympics so far.
Demchenko, 42, takes home the silver medal in his record seventh Winter Olympic appearance, a feat matched only by Japanese ski jumper Noriaki Kasai.
Demchenko was 0.476 seconds behind German slider Felix Loch, who won his second straight Olympic gold medal.
Italy’s Armin Zoeggeler took the bronze, 0.795 seconds further back.
The next luge event is the women’s singles Monday and Tuesday, before the men’s doubles Wednesday and team relay Thursday.
