15.02 Poland’s Stoch Takes 2nd Sochi Ski Jump Gold
KRASNAYA POLYANA, February 15 (R-Sport) – Polish ski jumper Kamil Stoch won his second gold medal of the Sochi Olympics on Saturday on the large hill as Japanese veteran Noriaki Kasai won silver at his seventh Games.
Stoch scored 278.7 points over two runs on the K125 large hill at the RusSki Gorki Jumping Center to add the victory to his win on the normal hill six days earlier. The 41-year-old Kasai, who missed gold by 1.3 points, becomes the oldest ever ski jump medalist.
Third place went to Peter Prevc of Slovenia on 274.8.
With four gold medals so far in Sochi, this is by far Poland’s most successful Winter Olympics to date – indeed, Stoch’s tally of two gold medals equals his country’s total at every Winter Games from 1924 through 2010.
