15.02 Hockey: Canada Demolishes Austria on Carter Hat-Trick

SOCHI, February 15 (R-Sport) — Los Angeles Kings forward Jeff Carter netted a hat-trick to help Canada to a 6-0 demolition of Austria in the Sochi Olympic men's hockey tournament on Friday.

After taking a modest 3-1 win over Norway in the Group B opener, reigning champion Canada blasted in all six goals in the first two periods.

Drew Doughty and Shea Weber bagged their second goals of the tournament in the first period, before Carter scored three times in the space of 12 minutes in the second, with Ryan Getzlaf adding Canada's sixth.

Canada’s star-studded team will now face Finland on Sunday to decide the winner of Group B, who will avoid an extra playoff game.

Finland also grabbed its second win Friday, demolishing Norway 6-1.
