21.10 Siberian Gets 18 Years in Jail for Burning His Friend Alive

MOSCOW, October 21 (RIA Novosti) - A court in the Siberian republic of Buryatia sentenced a local resident to 18 years in prison for killing his friend by setting him on fire, the republican prosecutors office said on Monday.

According to the prosecution, the crime took place last November, when Roman Rusinov, 20 years old at that time, quarreled with two of his acquaintances and then decided to kill them.

With this aim, Rusinov poured gasoline on one of his acquaintances and then set him on fire, the office said in a statement. The victim died at the crime scene from sustained wounds.

After the killing, Rusinov chased the other man and also poured gasoline on him, but failed to light a match. A witness at the scene knocked a box of matches from Rusinovs hands and snatched a canister with gasoline from him.
