POLITICS
About 4,500 activists marched in support of Russian political prisoners in downtown Moscow during an authorized rally on Sunday, according to police estimates. Although some participants said that closer to 10,000 people attended, the number was still well below the expected 20,000.

Georgians voted to elect a successor to outgoing President Mikheil Saakashvili, who has ruled the country since 2004. According to exit polls, an anti-Saakashvili politician, Giorgi Margvelashvili, will win in the first round with about 60 percent of the vote. However, the new presidents powers will be much more limited than those of his predecessor.
