02.10 Boxing: Klitschko to Do 'Whatever It Takes' to Beat Povetkin
MOSCOW, October 2 (R-Sport) Four-belt world heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko is ready to do "whatever it takes" to crush Russian contender Alexander Povetkin in their October 5 bout in Moscow.
The two will meet at Moscow's Olympiisky Sports Complex on Saturday, with all 14,000 tickets already sold to the HBO-televised event, the biggest boxing matchup in the Russian capital in years.
Ive come to Moscow as the world champion, and my task is to win the fight whatever it takes, and thats what Ill do on October 5, Klitschko said. I expect that Saturdays night will be the one that Moscow has never seen before.
The Ukrainian fighter added that he was sure his rival had some tricks up his sleeve and that he wasnt expecting an easy win.
I watched the preparation and open training of Povetkin, and it was very interesting, Klitschko said. I understand that he didnt want to show me everything and there will be some surprises, that he has a plan. But I saw everything that I needed.
Klitschko has not tasted defeat since 2004 and said he was eager to spoil Povetkin's clean record of 26 wins in 26 bouts, 18 of them via knockout. Klitschko, nicknamed "Dr. Steelhammer," is 60-3.
