02.09 RIA Novosti, QS Quacquarelli Symonds Ink Long-Term Agreement
MOSCOW, September 2 (RIA Novosti) RIA Novosti Group and QS Quacquarelli Symonds (UK) have signed a partnership agreement to publish data about educational institutions on RIA Novostis websites.
QS, one of the worlds leading generators of university rankings, will provide RIA Novosti with general rankings of Russian and international universities, rankings by subject areas and other information that may be of interest to the Russian-speaking audience. This is the first time that QSs original content will be published in full in Russian.
QS is proud to announce a new collaboration with RIA Novosti, the leading news agency in the Russian-speaking world, as a partner whose mission is closely aligned with our own: providing academics, companies, students and young professionals with the most accurate and up-to-date information about international education and career opportunities. We are confident that this collaboration will bring Russian institutions the recognition they deserve on the international stage, QS Quacquarelli Symonds founder and Managing Director Nunzio Quacquarelli said.
There are a lot of achievements to be proud of, but not many Russian universities know how to share them with the world. RIA Novosti and QS will join forces to shed more light on Russian higher education through rankings, quality content, events and other initiatives, said Zoya Zaitseva, Regional Director for Eastern Europe and Central Asia at QS.
During the three-year partnership, RIA Novosti will publish rankings that are updated annually by QS, including the top 50 QS Best Student Cities, QS University Subject Rankings, and QS University Rankings: Asia, all translated into Russian. The Russian interactive version of the 2013 QS World University Rankings will be published later this month.
The Russian government has set the leading Russian universities the goal of improving their international rankings. Efforts to meet international requirements could change the entire education system in Russia for the better, from the living experience for students and faculty to academic requirements for particular programs. These elements are essential for training the professionals of tomorrow. This partnership with RIA Novosti will help universities clearly identify the general objectives and areas that need improvement in order to attain the goal set by government, RIA Novosti First Deputy Editor-in-Chief Maksim Filimonov said.
Natalia Tyurina, Head of the RIA Social Rankings Center, stressed that in the research carried out in collaboration with the leading Russian experts, such as the Russian Union of Rectors and the Higher School of Economics, we strive to be as transparent, objective and relevant as possible. Collaboration with QS will be a new step toward the international criteria for quality assessment in higher education.
RIA Novosti is our strategic partner in promoting the university outside Russia, said Eduard Galazhinsky, First Deputy Rector of Tomsk National Research University. I can only congratulate RIA Novosti and QS on a successful partnership. I hope this alliance will benefit the academic community in Tomsk and across the country. Our university is very interested in becoming an internationally recognized institution with help from RIA Novosti.
