24.09 Putin, Icelandic President to Discuss Arctic Cooperation � Aide

MOSCOW, September 24 (RIA Novosti) � Russian President Vladimir Putin will meet with his Icelandic counterpart ?lafur Ragnar Gr?msson on the sidelines of an international Arctic forum, a Russian presidential aide has reported.

The forum, entitled Arctic: The Territory of Dialogue, is organized by the Russian Geographical Society and is to be held on September 24-25 in Salekhard, west Siberia.

Putin and Gr?msson will �discuss urgent issues of Russian-Icelandic cooperation, first and foremost, in the trade and economic sphere, as well as the two countries� approaches toward the development of interaction in the Arctic region,� Putin�s aide Yury Ushakov told journalists.

Gr?msson visited Russia in 2010 and 2011.

Last year, bilateral trade between Russia and Iceland totaled $211.9 million. The geothermal power industry is one of the two countries� promising cooperation fields.
