20.08 Russian Poacher Fined $40,000 for Killing Deer in Sanctuary

MOSCOW, August 20 (RIA Novosti) - A court in Russia's remote republic of Tyva has fined a hunter 1.3 million rubles (almost $40,000) for poaching deer in a protected wildlife sanctuary, the local prosecutor�s office said Tuesday.

Hunter Vyacheslav Danishvar shot 12 Siberian roe deer in the state protected Tyva wildlife sanctuary between December 28 and 30 last year, according to a prosecutor�s statement.

The poacher�s hunting rifle and the animals' carcasses were also confiscated, prosecutors said.
