08.07 Manchester United Announce Aeroflot Sponsor Deal
MOSCOW, July 8 (R-Sport) - English Premier League football champions Manchester United named the Aeroflot airline as a sponsor on Monday their first such deal with a Russian company.
The five-year deal sees Aeroflot replace Turkish Airlines to become the clubs official carrier. No financial details of the deal were provided.
It was not immediately clear how often Aeroflots planes might carry Manchester United players, or even if they would transport the Red Devils at all. A club statement mentioned only that the Russian airline would provide strategic travel advice.
Manchester United group marketing director Richard Arnold said in a statement posted on their website: Manchester United and Aeroflot share several core values and we are pleased to be welcoming such a high quality company as a sponsor.
Like the club, Aeroflot demonstrates team work, quality and a pride in its heritage, whilst still embracing new technologies and innovation.
United players and manager David Moyes attended a ceremony at the Old Trafford ground to launch the deal, along with Aeroflot chief executive Vitaly Saveliev.
