20.06 Thieves Steal 8 Kg of Gold in Siberia
CHITA, June 20 (RIA Novosti) - A steel box with eight kilograms (17.6 lbs) of gold was stolen from gold prospectors in East Siberias Transbaikal Territory, the regional police department said in a statement on Thursday.
A group of unidentified people dug their way under a fence and sneaked to the territory of a small [gold-mining] enterprise. Having found a key, left in a special cache, the perpetrators stole a steel box with about 8 kilograms of industrial gold from the gold storage facility, the statement reads.
An investigation is underway.
