30.05 Man Suspected of Throwing Daughter out of Window while Drunk
MOSCOW, May 30 (RIA Novosti) - Police in the city of Zvenigorod near Moscow on Thursday detained a man suspected of throwing his nine-year-old daughter out of a fifth-floor window while drunk, a spokesman for the Moscow Region police department said.
The girl was found unconscious near an apartment block on Thursday afternoon, having apparently fallen from one of the windows above.
The man, who has presumably been on a drinking binge for several days, threw his nine-year-old girl out of a window of his apartment on the fifth floor, the spokesman said. The girl was hospitalized, her condition is said to be critical.
He said police have so far been unable to question the 35-year-old suspect because he was heavily intoxicated.
Doctors from a local hospital told Russian online tabloid Life News that the girl was diagnosed with a spinal fracture and a head injury.
Irina Gumennaya, a spokeswoman for the Russian Investigative Committees Moscow Region department, said investigators are now examining the site of the incident to determine whether a criminal case should be launched on attempted murder charges.
